- Avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs (prescription and recreational)
- Avoid preservatives, additives, colourings, flavourings in food
- Switch out amalgams in teeth
- Avoid plastic in your food or water
- Avoid deep sea fish or eat with chelates (coriander, parsley, garlic)
- Filter water. Avoid drinking cold water
- Avoid chemicals in dry cleaning, scotch guarding, non-stick cookware etc
- Drink 500mls to 1 litre of water upon rising, preferably warm not cold water
- Drink warm water with lemon first thing in the morning. See my recipe for morning detox drink here. If you are concerned about tooth wear, rinse with bi-carb soda diluted in water immediately after drinking.

- Take saunas to sweat out toxins
- Some foods can assist such as:
- dandelion tea – a study on the beneficial effects of dandelion on liver
- milk thistle tea – study showing milk thistle antioxidant effect on liver
- beetroot – a study showing beetroot is protective on liver
- greens such as watercress, spinach, kale – study showing green leafy vegetables protective on liver
- coriander, parsley or chlorella to chelate heavy metals – study showing coriander can chelate heavy metals, link to peer review
- garlic to chelate heavy metals – study showed that garlic can chelate heavy metals
- digestive enhancers such as kefir, kimchi, miso
